VF AUTO MERCEDES BENZ SERVICE CENTER
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF MERCEDES BENZ VEHICLES
Whether your Mercedes-Benz needs routine maintenance, advanced diagnostics or a major repair, VF Auto has technicians with specialized experience servicing and repairing Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
Our technicians understand the technologies used throughout the Mercedes-Benz lineup, including turbocharged gasoline engines, V6 and V8 engines, BlueTEC diesel engines, 7G-TRONIC and 9G-TRONIC automatic transmissions, 4MATIC all-wheel-drive systems, AIRMATIC suspension and the hybrid, 48-volt and electric systems found in newer models.
A Mercedes-Benz is a sophisticated vehicle. A trouble code or dashboard warning does not necessarily mean a component needs to be replaced.
Using professional diagnostic equipment and hands-on experience, we can accurately identify the source of a problem before recommending repairs.
We can install genuine Mercedes-Benz components or high-quality European replacement parts, depending on the application, your preferences and your budget.
Why pay dealership prices to maintain and repair your Mercedes-Benz? Trust VF Auto for specialized, professional, transparent and affordable service.

We can also diagnose many of the systems found in Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrids and EQ electric vehicles.
Trust your VF Auto technician for all your Mercedes-Benz maintenance and repair needs.
We diagnose before we replace.
On a Mercedes-Benz, this philosophy is particularly important. Multiple systems communicate with one another, and a fault in one area can create warning messages in several others.
VF AUTO: YOUR MERCEDES-BENZ SPECIALIST
Mercedes-Benz is known for innovation, comfort, performance and advanced technology.
That sophistication also means effective diagnosis requires more than a generic code reader.
Over the years, Mercedes-Benz has used a wide variety of engines, transmissions, suspension systems and electronic architectures. A turbocharged four-cylinder C-Class requires a different diagnostic approach from a diesel GL, V6 E-Class, AMG V8 or EQ electric vehicle.
At VF Auto, we tailor our approach to the specific generation, engine and equipment installed in your vehicle.
COMMON MERCEDES-BENZ PROBLEMS WE DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR
Timing-chain noise during startup
Certain Mercedes-Benz engines can develop a brief rattling or timing-chain noise during startup.
Mercedes-Benz has published technical information addressing secondary timing-chain noise on certain M276, M278 and M157 engines. Depending on the application, chain-tensioner operation and retention of oil pressure can contribute to the condition.
Startup noise should not be diagnosed by sound alone.
VF Auto can evaluate timing-related fault codes, adaptation values, oil-pressure concerns when appropriate and the mechanical condition of the timing system before recommending repairs.
Timing-chain concerns – OM642 diesel engines
Certain OM642 diesel engines can also develop timing-chain elongation as mileage accumulates.
A rattling sound for several seconds after engine startup may warrant measurement and inspection of timing-chain wear.
The OM642 was used across numerous popular Mercedes-Benz diesel models, making accurate diagnosis important before undertaking major timing work.
Engine-oil leaks
As Mercedes-Benz vehicles age, engine-oil leaks can develop from valve covers, oil-filter housings, gaskets, turbocharger lines, oil pans and other components.
On certain engines, oil can travel over several areas before becoming visible underneath the vehicle.
Replacing the gasket closest to the visible oil is therefore not always the correct repair.
We inspect and clean the affected area when necessary to identify the actual origin of the leak.
Thermostat and cooling-system problems
Water pumps, thermostats, radiators, expansion tanks, fittings and hoses all play an important role in maintaining correct engine temperature.
Mercedes-Benz has documented thermostat-related conditions on certain M274 engines where the engine does not reach its expected operating temperature and fault P0128 may be present.
At the other extreme, leakage or poor coolant circulation can lead to overheating.
We can pressure-test the system, analyze actual temperature data and locate the problem before replacing components.
AIRMATIC – vehicle lowering or sitting unevenly
AIRMATIC air suspension provides exceptional comfort when operating correctly.
As the system ages, however, leakage can develop in an air spring, line, valve block or another component.
Symptoms can include:
-
One corner sitting lower than the others
-
The vehicle lowering after several hours
-
The compressor running frequently
-
A “Vehicle Too Low” warning
-
Suspension warning messages
-
The vehicle failing to raise
Mercedes-Benz has published diagnostic information relating to AIRMATIC leakage and vehicles dropping at one axle.
Automatically replacing the compressor is not always the correct solution.
If an air spring is leaking and forcing the compressor to operate continuously, replacing only the compressor can allow the same problem to return.
We locate the leak and evaluate the complete system.
4MATIC all-wheel-drive concerns
The 4MATIC system uses multiple mechanical and electronic components to distribute power between the wheels.
A vibration, noise, ABS/ESP warning or unusual driving behaviour can involve a wheel-speed sensor, wheel bearing, driveshaft, differential, transfer case, tires or electronic controls.
Significantly different tire sizes or wear levels can also affect certain all-wheel-drive systems.
We diagnose the complete system before replacing expensive drivetrain components.
7G-TRONIC and 9G-TRONIC transmission concerns
Mercedes-Benz automatic transmissions rely on a combination of mechanical, hydraulic and electronic systems.
Harsh shifting, delayed engagement, limp mode or a transmission warning can involve:
-
Fluid level or condition
-
Sensors
-
Valve-body operation
-
Transmission electronics
-
Adaptation values
-
Internal mechanical problems
A transmission trouble code therefore does not automatically mean the complete transmission requires replacement.
We analyze operating data and system condition before recommending the appropriate repair.
Turbocharger and boost-control concerns
Most modern Mercedes-Benz engines use one or more turbochargers.
Reduced power, a check engine light or a boost-pressure fault can be caused by the turbocharger, but it may also result from intake leakage, boost pipes, wastegate controls, valves, sensors or electronic controls.
On twin-turbo engines, proper diagnosis becomes even more important.
A boost problem does not automatically mean the turbocharger needs replacement.
We test the complete system before condemning an expensive component.
BlueTEC diesel – AdBlue, SCR and NOx sensor concerns
Many Mercedes-Benz diesel vehicles sold in Canada use BlueTEC technology and an SCR emissions system with DEF/AdBlue.
A check engine light or AdBlue warning can involve several components:
-
NOx sensors
-
DEF heating system
-
DEF injector
-
Pump
-
Level sensor
-
SCR catalyst
-
Wiring
-
Software
-
Another emissions-system problem
Mercedes-Benz Canada has also offered specific field measures for certain 2009–2016 OM642 and OM651 BlueTEC II diesel vehicles.
An AdBlue message therefore does not automatically mean a complete tank or a particular sensor requires replacement.
We diagnose the system before recommending repairs.
12-volt batteries and electrical problems
Modern Mercedes-Benz vehicles can be particularly sensitive to insufficient system voltage.
A weak 12-volt battery can trigger several messages at the same time involving:
-
ABS
-
ESP
-
Suspension
-
Steering
-
Braking
-
Start/Stop
-
Transmission
-
Driver-assistance systems
That does not necessarily mean all of those systems have failed.
We begin by checking the battery, charging system, grounds and power supplies before replacing electronic modules.
48-volt electrical systems
Many newer Mercedes-Benz vehicles use a 48-volt electrical system in addition to the conventional 12-volt system.
It may power an integrated starter-generator, mild-hybrid functions and other electrically operated components.
Mercedes-Benz has published battery-management software campaigns covering certain E-Class, CLS, GLE, GLS and AMG GT models equipped with 48V systems.
Depending on the condition, a 48V problem can trigger warnings involving the 48V system, 12V system, transmission or reduced engine output.
These vehicles require a diagnostic approach specifically suited to their dual-voltage architecture.
ABS, ESP and driver-assistance warnings
ABS and ESP communicate with many other vehicle systems.
A wheel-speed-sensor problem can sometimes trigger several warnings and temporarily disable multiple driver-assistance features.
However, a sensor code does not always mean the sensor itself has failed. A wheel bearing, magnetic encoder, wiring problem or power-supply fault can create similar symptoms.
We test the circuit before replacing components.
Cameras, radar and driver-assistance systems
Modern Mercedes-Benz vehicles may use technologies such as DISTRONIC, blind-spot monitoring, automatic braking, lane assistance, 360-degree cameras and automated parking systems.
A warning message can result from a sensor, camera, radar unit, calibration issue, low system voltage or another vehicle system.
Proper diagnostics allow us to determine what actually needs repair.
Brakes, suspension and steering
The weight, power and size of many Mercedes-Benz vehicles place significant demands on their suspension and braking systems.
Control arms, bushings, ball joints, links, shocks, wheel bearings, rotors and calipers can eventually develop wear or looseness.
A front-end noise does not automatically mean a particular control arm requires replacement.
We locate the source before recommending repairs.
Mercedes-Benz hybrid and EQ electric vehicles
Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles use high-voltage systems incorporating batteries, electric motors, inverters, onboard chargers, DC/DC converters and specialized cooling circuits.
A high-voltage warning or charging problem does not automatically mean the traction battery has failed.
The concern may involve the 12-volt system, onboard charger, power electronics, cooling system, sensors, a control module or the high-voltage system itself.
Accurate diagnosis is especially important before expensive electric-drive components are replaced.

WHY CHOOSE VF AUTO FOR YOUR MERCEDES-BENZ?
Mercedes-Benz-specialized technicians
Our team has the experience required to work with Mercedes-Benz gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, 4MATIC, AIRMATIC, BlueTEC, 48-volt systems and the numerous electronic systems used throughout the brand.
Advanced diagnostics
A modern Mercedes-Benz can contain dozens of electronic control modules.
Simply reading fault codes is not enough.
Our professional diagnostic equipment allows us to analyze operating data, adaptations and multiple vehicle systems to determine why a fault is present.
Gasoline and BlueTEC diesel experience
Many general repair shops are less familiar with Mercedes-Benz diesel engines.
Our approach considers the engine, turbocharger, fuel-injection system and SCR/AdBlue emissions system together rather than treating every code as a separate failure.
AIRMATIC and 4MATIC knowledge
These systems should be diagnosed before expensive parts are replaced.
We evaluate overall operation to identify the cause of the problem rather than simply replacing the component showing the symptom.
European electronic-system knowledge
Mercedes-Benz uses sophisticated vehicle networks in which numerous modules share information.
One failure can therefore create fault codes in several systems.
Our goal is to identify the original cause rather than replace every component associated with a stored code.
Competitive and transparent pricing
Driving a Mercedes-Benz doesn't mean every maintenance service and repair needs to come with dealership pricing.
We explain recommended repairs and costs before performing the work.
Quality parts
We can install genuine Mercedes-Benz components or high-quality European replacement parts depending on the application, your preferences and your budget.
